nice to know

last night we sat through a presentation by a woman who represents a certain company- the company sells products for the home and body that do not contain many of the harsh chemicals that our regular household products do. i was a little skeptical at first, but after listening to the presentation, i came home and read the back of several of our cleaning supplies and shampoo and toothpastes and laundry detergents. things i have in my house, that we use daily.

many of these items have precautionary statements on the back such as "harmful to humans and domestic animals." or "avoid contact with skin." things such as counter-top cleaner, avoid contact with skin. the dryer sheets say "avoid contact with fabric." i'm not kidding, these products actually say these things on the boxes/bottles.

i was appalled at how toxic most of these things are- the lotion i use everyday, our toothpaste, our dishwashing detergent, everything. i spent an hour this morning just looking up ingredients. and i am not at all happy with what i have found.

check out this site: http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep/

put in any product and it will tell you how harmful it is. i warn you though, it will make you want to stop using a lot of things you swear by.

anyway the company this woman represents makes household and bath and body products that don't contain any of these things, and they don't cost more. i bought household stuff for now, because most of the research i did today points to ingredients in those being harmful.
