magnetic poetry

we have fridge poetry on our refrigerator here at home, and several people use it to write poems. yet the ones i miss, the ones i most want to read, are meryam's.

when we lived together, i would walk into the kitchen in the morning and always see new poems that she had put together when she was eating breakfast that day.

they were lovely.

let me read you one:
--
give god a song
let him teach you
pick one color
let it cloud the vastness
run on her beach
do not think
but live
---

she is going to kill me for this, but let me read you one more. i can't help it, i love them:
--
may you wake only with eternity
and grow like a brilliant morning
--

see what i mean? i was confronted with little gems like these when i innocently went to the fridge to get milk.

good times

i had a lovely four days and would like to thank the following people: Hot Mama, Egyptian Rat, Obvious Password 23, My Sister in Sugar and King Kong.

a group of us went to new york/new jersey for a few days to visit my childhood friend and her husband and her astonishingly adorable son. with six adults in the house (and i use the term "adult" loosely here), we had a lot of noise and hysteria and giggling and occupied bathrooms and hijinx. we ate a lot of ice cream and took a LOT of pictures and were up to a lot of mischief basically the entire time.

some moments i will always remember:

-saif under a fence under samira
-being pushed down the stairs by a gorilla
-the look on my and moh's faces when our Cat and Sweater song came on
-EW! EFFFF! EW! EFFF!
-the pants.. brought me.. (cough) to... (sigh) ... you....!
-finally watching a broadway show ON broadway

esotericity aside, i have a lot to be thankful for- as my bhabi said on the phone last night, you have friends who you don't see all the time, and when you DO see them, you are reminded how great they are, how much they love you, and why you are friends with them in the first place.
